HIKING TRAIL DESCRIPTION

Hiking terminology:

Trail length:  The distance between the starting point and the destination, expressed in kilometers.

Hiking time: 1 hour of walking = 4 km for an average walker; without rest

Terrain - trail surface: 

      off road - at least 70% of the route features dirt, grass, or gravel paths.

      road- at least 70% of the route features secondary asphalt roads with low vehicle traffic.

      mix:  a combination of off-road and road with a roughly 50% share of each.

Level of difficulty -  indicates difficulty with reference to the fitness level of an average walker

      challenging–  requires very good physical condition.,

      moderate – requires average physical condition,

      easy – suitable for families with young children or seniors with lower fitness levels.

Type:  circular: it starts and ends in the same location, linear – returning along the same path in the opposite direction.

Trail markings - signage :  hiking trails are marked with a symbol consisting of a green ring around a white field.
At intersections where two or more trails overlap, there is additional marking in the form of three letters representing the abbreviated trail name, e.g., ŠKS (Štrigova Circular Trail).
Međimurje Hiking Trail (MPP) is marked with a red ring around a white field, in accordance with the rules for marking hiking trails.
There are information boards at the trailheads, and they feature a map of the trail, basic information about it, and a QR code leading to this website.

Parking:  includes available parking space free for use.

Rest stops: at least one rest stop open to the public with a bench.

Wireless phone and internet availability: percentage of the route with available signal.

Accommodation and refreshments: featuring accommodation providers and catering facilities situated directly along the trail or within a maximum distance of 1 km. These businesses are open year-round, operating according to schedules that may be subject to change.

Attractions: featuring cultural, natural, and other places or interest, sites, or outdoor activities situated directly along the trail or within a maximum distance of 1 km. These attractions are open to visitors year-round, operating according to schedules that may be subject to change.

Dogs: unless otherwise stated, dogs are allowed to roam freely without a leash, but should be kept under control of the owner.

Rules of conduct:
Do not litter while spending time in the countryside. Collect all your waste and dispose of it properly! Recycle as much as possible!
Drink tap water—it tastes great and is safe! Locals will gladly refill your water bottle.
Do not start fires outside designated areas! If you see or smell smoke in the forest, call 112 immediately!
Camping outside registered campsites is not allowed!
Set a good example for others and enjoy your hike!
